So That’s Been January

January is over! Like, what?! How did that happen? It feels like only yesterday that I was bringing in the new year with a southern comfort and lemonade in hand with my friends at a house party and now it’s the 1st of February. Anyway, with the first month of 2016 over I thought I would round up my January in one post so get ready for a fairly long post summarising what I have been up to, my favourites and the month in general.

It’s been a busy month and I’ve made a lot of memories so far this year…

Top left to bottom right: Myself and my brothers dog, Poppy, having a cuddle (aka my favourite animal in the whole world)/ Being a poser before heading to Sheffield to visit my oldest friend (15 years going strong)/ Ready for The Rocky Horror Picture Show which was amazing, definitely recommend/ Old School cinema ticket to see The Danish Girl/ Daughter at the Albert Hall/ Me and my friend Harriet from uni on our ‘uni gals reunited night out’ in matching tops (it wasn’t planned) #twins/ Gabrielle Aplin at the Albert Hall/ Myself looking at vinyls in Grey & Pink Records in Chester.

Favourites wise I haven’t had many favourite items and products this month but there are a few that deserve a mention. First up we have a pair of shoes. I got these boots from Topshop and I am in love. One they are so comfy (translation: I can walk in them and I can boogie in them for a good four hours without wanting to cry) and two they have the prettiest heel which really makes them a bit more of a statement piece and not just your average black heeled ankle boot. They can make jeans and jumper looks elegant and sassy on no time at all.

Beauty wise I have been loving some lovely Jo Malone products that I was kindly bought for Christmas. My best pals mama got me a Jo Malone cracker which had the Sweet Nectarine Blossom & Honey Body Crème in it. It smells amazing, feel lovely and makes you so so soft. My mum (the best and weirdest lady ever) treated me to the Jo Malone Mimosa & Cardamon fragrance. This fragrance is b-e-a-u-tiful. It smells so clean but is quite an unusual scent.

This month I also rediscovered a love for my MAC lipstick in Creme In Your Coffee and I have been reaching for it most days that I have worn makeup. I dislike the phrase, but it is one of those ‘my lips but better’ products. I usually put lip balm on first, then the lipstick and then blend with my finger. It’s a subtle natural shade that doesn’t have a matte finish so feels light and doesn’t dry out your lips.

My absolute favourite thing of January though has to be blogging. I have really been enjoying writing these posts and can’t wait to continue creating content and (hopefully) improving my writing and photography in the process. In my first ever post I mentioned that I had tried blogging before and it had never stuck and this month I think I have realised why. In the past I had been too embarrassed and self conscious to tell anyone that I wanted to start a blog or even that I had started a blog so I would never share my posts and quickly lost all motivation to create posts. This blog is different because my best pal, Beth,  encouraged me to share my posts from the get go and put myself out there. Thank you chum, u da best.

January overall has been a lovely month bar the week when both David Bowie and Alan Rickman sadly passed away. The day David Bowie died I drove to work and Changes was on the radio which resulted in me having a little weep. He was such an inspirational artist who always pushed the music and fashion boundaries. His songs will always have a special place in my heart, especially David Bowie – The Prettiest Star.

So that’s been January.
